Metadata Management Associates LLC is a group of experienced consultants devoted to the development of intelligent metadata management solutions and services, particularly in library and digital library environments. MMA consultants have advised a variety of clients, and are particularly focused on providing solutions that enable data to operate fully within the Semantic Web. Specifically, MMA advises in the following areas:

• development of management processes and systems to support the aggregation of non-heterogeneous record-oriented or statement-oriented, item-level metadata from diverse collections via OAI-PMH or API; normalizing it, augmenting it, and generally improving the quality; then re-serving the resulting resource-oriented, item-level, aggregated metadata from a central metadata repository for use in building resource-discovery services
• transformation and mapping of legacy library data to current web data standards (such as Dublin Core, RDA or BibFrame), with the emphasis on repurposing, re-using and extending metadata using Semantic Web technologies
• strategic and tactical planning for building, sharing, distributing, and maintaining metadata
• vocabulary development, distribution and maintenance using the Open Metadata Registry (OMR) (http://metadataregistry.org) or other management technology
• planning and implementation of the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting, for either harvesting/aggregation or exposure of metadata
• consulting on design of project or domain specific metadata schemas and application profiles
